The Blood Elves are all that remains of High Elves who managed to survive the destruction of Quel'Thalas by the Scourge. They were at first loyal to the forces of Lordaeron but as it later came to be they were no longer welcome in the Alliance.

The Bloodelves are highly experiences magic-wielders but they became addicted to their powers and they can no longer live without using magic and would do anything in its name.
